Helping Your CEO Be the Best They Can Be – The Role of Communications

Date: Tuesday 22 June, 2010

Time: 8.30 am -10.15 am

Venue: Auditorium, Malaysia Airports Corporate Office, KLIA

As business communicators, one of our constant challenges is to mold corporate leaders into communication champions to ensure that the company directions, strategies and values are communicated effectively.

Over the past two years, the Malaysia Chapter of International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) has been featuring many expert speakers in various communication fields, as part of its value added program for its members and the community of business communicators. The program’s objective is to share knowledge available within the IABC network as a way to promote communication excellence.

Our next IABC Breakfast Talk will feature a topic on the future of communication and how best to help CEOs and Senior Managers to develop corporate communication based on leadership. It will cover the importance of values, focusing on the leadership needs of the organisation, strategic thinking and planning, and environmental analyses. In this context, the talk will emphasise the importance of internal audiences in reaching external audiences.

Our special guest speaker, Geoff Barbaro, hails from Australia. Geoff Barbaro’s work has spanned the globe in communications fields, including multinational Delaware North Companies, government bodies including Australian capital cities Melbourne and Adelaide, universities and not for profit organisations. He is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, and a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and the International Association of Business Communicators. A former lawyer, he blogs at Geoff’s Gobbledegook, Tweets @Geoff_Barbaro and can be found on LinkedIn. He has presented at numerous international, national and local conferences, and loves Malaysia people, culture, places, weather and the great food.

IABC has a collective experience of more than 50 years amongst its Malaysia Chapter members. The Chapter strives to assist the business communicators overcome the various communication challenges faced in the day to day operations and also offers the platform for networking amongst the business communicators to learn from each other.
